I'm doing a giveaway of my book and a "Plain and Simple Bookmark" made by David.
Here are the rules: To enter, you need to be a follower of this blog. Leave me a message letting me know which of these beautiful bookmarks you like best.
| From left to right: mahogany, bird's eye maple, zebra wood, purple heart, birch, black walnut, and oak |
For a second chance to win, you can link to this post and then come back and give me that link.
I'll be doing the drawing on Thursday, July 12.
Also for a limited time, I will be giving a free bookmark with every book you buy directly from me. Within this week, you will also have the option of ordering online for me to ship autographed copies of my book to you within a day.
And last, but not least, David is offering a giveaway on his blog as well, so hop on over and sign up for that, too. He also has a beautiful new website that you might want to see. I think you will be amazed at the quality and beauty of the work he does.
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
I like the one to the oak one. So pretty and just right for my books.

Your blog is quite interesting and I would love to more more about your experiences. I visited the Amish country (Lancaster, Pa.) as a little girl. My father was allowed to take a photo of me, with my long braids, talking to a little Amish girl, also in braids, but only because the other girl gave him her back! The picture was taken nearly 50 years ago but I still remember it well. We took our own girls to Lancaster a few years ago, but it had lost the old charm. Seeing the Amish traipsing through Walmart just seemed incongruent with all I had learned about the culture
ReplyDeleteMy favorite bookmark is the purple one, for no other reason than it would look pretty sitting in whatever book I am currently reading, which changes constantly as I read all the time.
Thanks for considering me for a free copy of your memoir.

I just became a follower, and I love your blog :) I also just ordered your book on Amazon I'm looking forward to reading it! Anyway I think the zebra wood bookmark is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a copy of your book and David's bookmark. I especially like the purple heart. I haven't been able to afford to buy books, but would love to read and review yours. I've been following this blog for quite some time via rss feed.
ReplyDeleteI just posted about your giveaway and linked to your site.

Ohhhh....purple heart looks nice!
ReplyDeleteI would be thrill to be the owner of any of the above. They are all beautiful. I have you book and have read it and passed it on to many of my Amish friends. I ma looking forward to discussing it with them. You have helped me out 'socially' when I became friends with my first Amish family. And now I am friends with many of their siblings. I have learned a lot from you and your writings as well as lots of my new friends also. Thanks you for being so honest in your shareings.
ReplyDeleteSaloma,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. To the right of your picture is a box to type in your email address, or if you prefer rss feed, just click on the link that's above the email address box where it says subscribe to entries. I'm honored that you wish to subscribe.

I had not intended to enter and signed up to follow. Then I was reading the comments and realized you were giving away your book. As nice as the bookmarks are, it was the book that grabbed me! (BTW - I like the 4th, 5th, and 6th. LOL)
ReplyDeleteI just watched the documentary online, thank you for sharing the link. We just came back yesterday from a trip to Lancaster (and Hershey).
This comment came through as an email, so I am posting it here for a chance for you to win the drawing, Mary.
ReplyDeleteHi Saloma,
I would like to enter your drawing. I believe I like the purple heart bookmark the best. I am from the Amish also, in Arthur, IL. It seems I am drawn to anything "ex-Amish"! I know the pain of rejection and the difficulty of trying to fit into the English culture. If it wouldn't be that Jesus is with me each step of the way, I don't think I could make it!
Blessings,
Mary Stutzman
I would love to enter your drawing. Thanks for letting me know about your book, Why I left the Amish, on my goodreads post. I have it on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Zebra Wood, though all of them are beautiful.
Thanks for this opportunity.

The bookmarks are really nice! Since I already have your book, I will pass on that and let someone else have the chance to read it. Will hop over to David's site.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
I already commented earlier but I just wanted to say I'm all caught up!! It took me several days but after I had first started reading your blog, I went back to the very beginning and worked my way through to the present. I have fully enjoyed reading it.
ReplyDeleteDo you think your sisters would share their lives/perspectives with you to share with us on your blog? I'd love to hear about their journeys in leaving the world they grew up (and even married) in.
Why was your Amish name Lomie and your English name Saloma? Is it just your nickname and what you went by was Lomie when you were Amish?
